Daily children in the foster care community move from home to home with a plastic bag or trash bag that carries all of their most valuable items. There is no luggage or tote provided to the child to move to their next family, leaving the child with insecurities and a lack of confidence.
This notion can truly damage a child creating uncertainty, timidity and nervousness when it’s time for them to travel. This unstable action can impair a child from trusting the system and trusting their next home.
Each foster child deserves a tote/luggage that is well equipped and sturdy that will carry their valuable belongings safe and protected to show that they are cared for and their belongings are just as valuable as their life.
Francesca Wilson of NOLA is currently creating a Non-Profit organization that donates totes and luggage's to the foster care system in New Orleans to show foster kids that they matter and that someone out there cares.
Join Francesca at her first tote fundraising event, Love Totes - Donate 4 Donuts @ Lafreniere Park, March 25th.
All are welcome to drop off their used or brand new totes (bags or luggage’s) at Shelter #3 between the hours 12 pm - 3 pm!
Donuts and Raffle tickets for prizes will be distributed to each person who donates.
Come support this effort and give back to the foster care community that once lost their most valuable item, their family.
If you are not able to make the drop off event, you can still donate by contacting Francescanwilson@gmail.com for more information.
